The Cities and Knights expansion introduces various new gameplay mechanics that add even more variety to Catan. Invest new trade goods in city improvements to build one of the three metropolises of Catan – but beware of the barbarians attracted by Catan’s new wealth! You’ll need your best knights to fend them off! C&K contains a short campaign and 7 challenging maps.

Catan FAQ:

Question: An expansion seems gone after an update or reinstallation of Catan or after restoring the device?
Answer: Don’t worry! Your initial purchase is already saved in your iTunes account. You can restore your InApp purchases by selecting the restore-option in the Catan IAP menu.

Question: I lost my campaign progress after reinstalling, updating or restoring my device. Is there any way to restore it?
Answer: When saved games can’t be automatically restored, we’ve integrated a cheat code: In the campaign mode go to select player and enter „CatanWarp*“ (* = 1–15) as your player name and confirm. Exit the game via the home button and restart it. The campaign can now be continued from the specified level number (1–15). Levels up to the specified number will be unlocked in the custom game mode as well.

Question: Are dice rolls really random?
Answer: Of course! All dice rolls are 100% random and not modified in any way. We’re avid Catan players ourselves. We’ve played the iOS version hundreds of times while developing the program. There have been times when we won and lost a few games in a row because of the dice - just like when playing the board game!

Pros and cons of Catan Classic app for iPhone and iPad

Catan Classic app good for

One of the best board games out there, a must in any collection.
Fun solitaire but stronger and more varied computer opponents would be appreciated (could take a cue from the Carcassonne opponents). Sadly the pass and play is too tedious because of all the trading involved. Not so much a fault of the apps design as it is part of the game that simply doesnt transfer away from the real board easily.
I tend to win 90% of the games, which never happens in real life. But, it has been a game I play over and over again. It is still a challenge to win. Great Game.
Since the update the game crashes often during play and cant be continued, have to start a new game to keep playing, its not very often anymore that I can actually complete a game from start to finish.
Fun game, couldnt seem to buy the expansions. The AI was a little weak but not too bad. Ive played 20 or so 3 and 4 player games and won 80% of them. So AI players win sometimes but not usually.
Of course being at the table is far superior, this still provides a good bit of entertainment. I have run into the odd crash which means I have to reset the map (campaign). All in all a good app recreating the table top game well.

Some bad moments

The dice are so poorly programmed that it ruins the game. Also, no matter how far ahead a CPU player may be, the other CPU players will always help each other out (trading). This makes the game unrepresentative of the original board game
Cons - AI gangs up on you with repeated dice rolls - AI gets robber again and again on you - AI magically racks up victory points when you are about to win Pro - Good lesson to not buy crap app like this again
A great game ruined by terrible programming. The dice probabilities are near impossible and consistently influence game outcome.
Loved this game until the July 20 update. Now opponents wont place their first settlements in start up phase. So the game is essentially broken and unplayable.
The oppenent can use any knight on the map to displace the pirate. He does not have any knight beside the pirate.
Needs a fix - the game crashes when an opponent is relocating his ship and you cant continue the same game
